During their recent visit to community pharmacies in Florida, NCPA President Hugh Chancy and NCPA CEO Douglas Hoey met with Matt DePaola and Chris DePaola of Cypress Pharmacy in Fort Myers, who emphasized their eagerness to expand the definition of community health by incorporating a more holistic sense of individual wellness. “The younger generation is more into wellness,” Chris DePaola said. “And you won’t get them in for prescriptions, but you’ll get them in for vitamins.” His brother agreed, noting that it’s one thing to say, “wellness is good,” but it’s another to provide real, clinical care to support it. “Most influencers in the wellness space don’t have clinical training and they’re making millions of dollars,” Matt DePaola said. “We need to be the ones educating the consumers.” Want to see more from this trip?
