This month, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) signed into law S.B. 520, legislation that, among its provisions, addresses pharmacy audits, requires biannual audits of Medicaid Managed Care pharmacy pricing, prohibits retroactive fees, limits patient steering, and creates an external review process for reimbursement. The law also defines and adds pharmacy service administrative organizations to the state statutes. This month, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) also signed into law H.B. 1445, legislation providing authority to the Attorney General for conducting audits of PBMs for both the Medicaid program and state employee health plans.
