Across the country, pharmacists and pharmacy champions had a good showing during the midterm elections. NCPA is proud to support our fellow pharmacists and pharmacy champions and are excited to increase the number of legislators who understand our issues. In Alabama, Senators Billy Beasley (D-28) and Tom Butler (R-2), both pharmacists, won re-election and pharmacist Phillip Rigsby (R-25) won election to the state House. In Arkansas, Leslie Rutledge (R) won the race for lieutenant governor, while pharmacist Justin Boyd (R) won the State Senate District 27 race, and pharmacist Brandon Achor (R) won the House District 71 race. In Alaska, pharmacist Justin Ruffridge (R) won the State House District 7 race. In Florida, pharmacist Shane Abbott (R) won his state House District 5 race and pharmacist Gallop Franklin (D) won his State House District 8 race. In Maryland, pharmacy owner Steve Johnson (D) is currently second in State House District 34A, which elects two delegates. In Nevada, pharmacist Jeff Stone (R) won the Senate seat in the 20th district. Stone previously served in the California State Senate. New Hampshire elected pharmacist David Rochefort (R) in the Grafton-1 State House District. And, in North Carolina, State Rep. and pharmacist Wayne Sasser (R) was reelected in district 67.
