Reach out to care facilities and offer vaccine assistance

NCPA August 25, 2021

The first time around, two big chains got the call to serve LTC facilities with the COVID-19 vaccines. Now, the opportunity is yours, and it is a big one. Contact local facilities, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and group homes, and offer to help them with vaccination boosters (and primary doses if still needed). If you don’t contact a facility and they need help, the state health department is likely to refer that opportunity to someone else. If you don’t have access to the vaccine, consider contacting entities in the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program to inquire about joining their group for this purpose.

LeadingAge, a national group representing senior care homes, is encouraging facility operators to plan booster clinics for the fall. Some of your senior home partners – or potential partners in the community – are likely looking to plan their vaccine clinics now, and you want to be their go-to resource. Call them today to help them plan to include you.

A couple to-dos before boosters start

  • Make sure any online scheduler or other information is up to date and can accommodate additional and booster doses.

  • If you have preferred contact information for potential vaccine clinic partners to use to reach out to you, add it to the notes field on the vaccine.gov website.
