Johnson & Johnson has issued a voluntary recall of five aerosol sunscreens under its Neutrogena and Aveeno brands. Recalled products include Neutrogena Beach Defense, Cool Dry Sport, Invisible Daily Defense, and Ultra Sheer aerosol sunscreens, as well as Aveeno Protect + Refresh at the consumer level. Internal testing identified low levels of benzene, a human carcinogen, in some samples of the sunscreens. The company said it is investigating the cause of the issue and has asked consumers to stop using the products. They’ve asked consumers to report adverse or side effects related to the products to the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program, by downloading a form, or by calling 1-800-332-1088 to request a reporting form.
