The NCPA Foundation has grants available for independent community pharmacies affected by disasters, including the recent bomb cyclone in the northwest. The Foundation recently responded to Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
"Hurricane Helene and flood waters from Pigeon River devastated our city of Newport, Tenn. Flood waters from the hurricane reached our store and we had almost 10 feet of water in our basement, so high that it even reached our front door. The grant from NCPA Foundation's disaster relief fund is a small but meaningful resource that has helped us get operational and continue to serve our devastated community. Our insurance policy won't pay for any of the damages we sustained. We also had interruption of business coverage insured, but they are denying our claims for that as well. Having to pay for cleanup and making the building safe for our employees has been a major expense. Every little bit of grant funding helps make a difference for pharmacies like ours,” says Rob Bullington, president of Wilson's Sav Mor Drugs.
