Correcting the record on WSJ Editorial Board’s PBM opinion pieces

NCPA October 7, 2024

NCPA last week pushed back on two errant opinion pieces written by the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board in comments sent to the group. Matt Seiler, NCPA vice president and general counsel, pointed out in his remarks that WSJ reporting itself clearly illustrates the nefarious tactics employed by PBMs.

“I find it interesting the WSJ Editorial Board disregards the Journal's own reporting on the nefarious activities of PBMs. … [K]eep in mind 46% of the country that has pharmacy deserts. PBMs are a big cause of this,” he wrote.

Seiler also noted that it was the second time in the past few weeks that the board had backed PBMs in the argument over drug pricing.

“It seems to me that the Editorial Board is schilling for the PBMs and its trade association PCMA,” he wrote.
