NCPA participates in conference about PBM vertical integration

On Oct. 26, NCPA General Counsel Matthew Seiler, RN, participated in Capitol Forum’s Health Care Competition Conference, held this year at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., about current trends in competition policy in health care markets. The Capitol Forum routinely convenes policy officials and experts from a broad range of disciplines on topics of current and long-term importance. Last week’s event featured FTC Commissioner Alvaro Bedoya, who was a featured speaker in April’s NCPA Congressional Pharmacy Fly-In, and who has spoken at length about transparency, fairness, and competition as the chief business challenges faced by community pharmacies thanks to vertically integrated PBMs. The event also featured DOJ Deputy Assistant Attorney General Andy Forman (whose remarks you can find here). Seiler contributed to the discussion about the downstream effects of vertical integration among PBMs including patient access, clawbacks, and patient steering. Stay tuned to qAM for a video when it becomes available of Seiler’s remarks.
