Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed into law SB 1550, the most comprehensive PBM reform legislation in the nation to date. The new law improves transparency as it relates to PBM-owned or affiliated pharmacies, addresses patient steering, requires pass-through pricing, ensures network adequacy, prohibits clawbacks, and creates reimbursement appeals procedures. The law also strengthens enforcement authority for the commissioner of insurance regulation and provides appropriations for implementation. NCPA has engaged the reform effort since its outset, beginning with DeSantis’ Executive Order 22-164 last July, and continued to advocate alongside partners and members.
