Pharmacies providing COVID-19 vaccines will more than likely need to submit the pharmacist's NPI number on claims for reimbursement. Pharmacists who order vaccines (allowed during the public health emergency and all times in some states) need to have a Type 1 NPI (apply here). The pharmacist’s Type 1 NPI number should be submitted in the prescriber/ordering provider field and pharmacy's Type 2 NPI is submitted as usual for payment.
