Arrange an in-store or virtual visit with Gabe Trahan, NCPA's senior director of store operations and marketing, and discover realistic and low-cost ways to improve your store's retail pricing strategies, floor plans, category sizes, departments, end-caps, and more. Contact Gabe by email or (802) 922-1205 to see how a store visit can benefit your store.
During a typical visit, Gabe will spend time with you discussing your challenges, concerns, and goals for the future. Then the assessment begins! Gabe will start in your parking lot and finish in the backroom, leaving no fixture or end-cap unturned. During the assessment, Gabe will review:
Realistic ways to improve your store's curbside presence.
Where the most profitable sections of your store are and which products should be located in this prime real estate.
Merchandising opportunities that can be applied to your seasonal, candy & snack, gift, greeting card, home/school supplies, check-out counter(s), toy, and/or dollar departments.
Recommendations for your OTC and private label department inventory—what's missing and what should be cut.
Suggestions for new pricing strategies, if needed.
Easy changes to transform your DME section into a "Home Comfort and Safety Center."
Gabe will take plenty of notes and photos during his visit to put together a detailed action plan for your store that includes a plan for profit, steps to increase planned, impulse, and companion sales, and a new floor plan, if needed. PLUS, you receive three months of follow-up support from Gabe to ensure you're on the right track to success. Contact Gabe by email or (802) 922-1205 to see how a one-day store visit can benefit your store.
In addition to all of the benefits of a one-day visit, during a two-day store visit Gabe will review:
How to successfully merchandise an end-cap or a small OTC department through a live re-merchandising project with you and your staff. Seeing is believing: employees will be inspired by a before-and-after demonstration of effective merchandising techniques.
How to create compelling signs that sell product.
How to develop a marketing plan and improve your current media advertisements (if applicable).
Gabe's visit also includes plenty of one-on-one time with the store owner(s), manager(s), and merchandiser(s) to address questions and concerns. You will receive a detailed action plan for your store that includes a plan for profit, steps to increase planned, impulse, and companion sales, and a new floor plan, if needed. PLUS, you receive three months of follow-up support from Gabe to ensure you're on the right track to success. Contact Gabe by email or (802) 922-1205 to see how a two-day store visit can benefit your store.
Your three-day visit includes all of the benefits of the one and two-day visits, but Gabe can work on more than one store location. Best suited for multiple store owners. Contact Gabe by email or (802) 922-1205 to see how a three-day store visit can benefit your stores.

When it comes to considering remodeling your pharmacy, nothing is better than having Gabe in your store. But now, thanks to user-friendly technology, a virtual visit comes very close to being as good!
You will be asked to use a combination of a smartphone, Zoom meeting, a measuring tape, and access to dropbox files. Doing this will allow you to move forward in clearly communicating your vision of what you expect your store to be.
How it works:
You will be asked to take digital photos of your location and upload them to a file-sharing website. Gabe will provide step-by-step guidance on what to photograph to ensure no corner is missed. He will then meet with you on ZOOM and discuss each part of your store, including the curbside appeal.
You will need to provide a drawing of your store. The drawing does not need to be to scale, but instead, it will need to include a number of measurements. Gabe will draw your store to scale by using the measurements you provide. (for an example of a hand-drawn floor plan, click here).
Next, Gabe will send you a packet of forms to complete regarding store background information, examples of your retail OTC pricing, and more.
Gabe will schedule an initial phone call and or zoom meeting (approx. one hour) to discuss your questions and concerns. Then the assessment begins! From the parking lot to the backroom, no fixture or end-cap will be left unturned. Based on your photos, forms, and phone conversation, Gabe will examine your retail pricing strategies, floor plan, category sizes, department placement, end-cap merchandising, check-out, and non-traditional OTC departments, such as DME, school supplies, food and snacks, cards, and gifts.
You will receive a detailed action plan for your store that includes a design for profit, steps to increase planned, impulse, and companion sales, and a new floor plan. PLUS, you receive three months of follow-up support from Gabe to ensure you're on the right track to success. Contact Gabe by email or (802) 922-1205 to see how a virtual visit can benefit your store. Are you ready to get started?
Are you looking for guidance in organizing your pharmacy's front-end? Correctly choosing the size and placement of over the counter product groups will increase impulse and companion sales along with keeping inventory in check. Front-end Overhaul's Gabe Trahan will help recommend the best department and category sizes while finding that sweet spot for where it all will go. There is a good chance he will suggest and find room for an up and coming niche line!
How it will work:
Focusing on the area of the front-end, Gabe will ask you to sketch out a floorplan of your pharmacy, the more detailed, the better. Gabe will then provide you with a comprehensive plan on where to strategically place your OTC categories. There will be no need for the floor plan to be drawn to scale, listing basic measurements will do. Gabe will want you to include the sizes of all wall fixtures, gondolas, end-caps, spinners, greeting card racks, and free-standing displays.
