The investigative newsroom Hunterbrook released an article detailing their examination of PBM GPOs, and how they engage in secretive self-dealing with the PBMs they're associated with. They brought hard numbers, analyzed the wording of contracts, and sent investigators to GPOs' offices, only to find that they were either lightly staffed or completely empty. They are, Hunterbrook says, "just part of a larger shell game to rack up cash through charging exorbitant fees."
