A coalition of over 20 national advocacy organizations including NCPA sent a letter to CMS urging the agency to act on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries who need specialized LTC pharmacy services in their homes. The letter emphasizes the critical role LTC pharmacies play in supporting medically complex patients. It calls on CMS to address the barriers that prevent many patients from receiving these essential services at home, despite their proven ability to improve outcomes, reduce hospitalizations, and enhance quality of life.
This letter builds on the growing momentum from recent congressional action, including the Energy and Commerce Committee's recent bipartisan letter, which similarly urged CMS to close these disparities and ensure Medicare beneficiaries have access to the specialized care LTC pharmacies provide. Collectively, these efforts reflect a clear and unified message: patients living in their homes and communities deserve the same level of pharmacy care as those in institutional settings.
NCPA's LTC Division continues to advocate for LTC-at-home services. We've worked with American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition to form the Alliance for LTC Pharmacy @ Home Coalition.
