PBMs asked to testify before congressional committee

NCPA May 21, 2024

Executives of top pharmacy benefit manager firms have been invited to testify before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee in June. The invitees include representatives from Optum, CVS Caremark, and Cigna’s Express Scripts, sources told STAT News reporter Rachel Cohrs Zhang. While not its primary jurisdiction, the committee has shown keen interest in PBM practices this congressional session, initiating investigations and hearings into their deleterious practices and outsized influence on the future of health care. The committee has held two PBM focused hearings in the last year with NCPA members Hugh Chancy and Kevin Duane participating as witnesses.
