A man in Perth, Australia, escaped mandatory quarantine in a hotel by scaling down a rope made of tied-together bedsheets from a fourth-floor window. After arriving in Perth on a cross-country flight from Brisbane, the man‘s application for entry was refused under Western Australia’s border entry rules intended to stop the virus entering from elsewhere in the country. The man was taken to a hotel for temporary quarantine and told that he’d need to leave Western Australia within 48 hours. He was having none of that. He shimmied down the sheets and fled the area but was found and arrested about eight hours later.
